UK IT Challenge
A big congratulations to Aaron, Ricky and Joshua who all took part in the UK IT Challenge run by The Shaw Trust and supported by BT.
The UK IT Challenge was a 2 day event where teams of disabled young people from all across the United Kingdom competed in a variety of IT challenges to test ability, creativity and skill, using different computer programmes. Challenges ranged from creating animation in PowerPoint to retrieving specific information from the internet to showing off their ability with Excel.
Aaron Phipps, Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby team member at the London 2012 Paralympics and the first British person with a disability to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, was a special guest at the UK IT Challenge. Aaron has achieved many great things for both the charities he has fundraised for and himself. He delivered a speech that inspired, empowered and motivated the young and talented individuals.
Ricky won Challenge One where he had to use the internet to find information. He also won an award for outstanding teamwork. Congratulations Ricky!
The participants now have a chance to compete at the Global IT Awards in India. The judging for a place at the awards is currently taking place and we should find out in the next couple of weeks if our students have been successful.
