On Wednesday 14th February, we were honoured to have a visit from the British Council’s John Rolfe. John came to school to present us with our International School Award and spent some time with us in assembly and then had a tour of the school. We really value Global Education learning at St Martins and look forward to finding out more about our world.
Each half term Drama supports Topic or Literacy themes, helping our students to experience and explore ideas and events through role-play or a prepared performance. On Wednesday 31st January, some members of the School Council were lucky enough to visit the Derby’s Mayor – Councillor John Whitby. They sat in the Council Chambers and listened to the Mayor talk about his role and how he helps the city. They also had the opportunity to ask him questions about his life and his job. St Martins is part of the Voices in Action, a Youth Council. It is a group for young people aged 11 to 19 years old to represent their school, support group or youth project. We have three representatives – Connor, Mia and Kristian. They attend monthly meetings and discuss a range of different topics that affect children and young people. Debbie, Bryony, Matthew and James are in Mumbai, India, to visit our partner school – Udayachal High School. Happy New Year from KS3B! We have had a positive start to 2018 – we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Derby Theatre to watch Peter Pan and we’re all excited about learning more about World War 2.
