Horizons student receives award from Mayor!

Horizons Student, Meghan Simpson, was invited to meet the Mayor of Derby, Councillor Linda Winter, and received an award for working with people with dementia.

Meghan says:

“I really enjoyed meeting the Mayor of Derby.  She was very interesting and very posh. The Mayor asked me questions about what I like to do, and my hobbies. I told her about my work placement at the Willowcroft Nursing Home for people with dementia. The Mayor was impressed with me because she had lost her mum who had dementia. I inspired her because I showed her how I can cope with the residents and get along with the staff and enjoy the time there on my day off. I was invited to the Mayor’s Parlour to collect an award for working with people with dementia. I was really excited to receive a certificate and a badge from someone special.”
Well done Meghan, we are all so proud of you!
