Two million Tanzanian shillings!
St Martins is partnered with the Mdaula School in Chalinze, Tanzania. We regularly share good practice with teaching and learning with each other, but our partnership with Mdaula goes further than that. Recently the school’s toilet collapsed and they didn’t have the funds to rebuild it.
Different groups in school decided to raise money to help them rebuild collapsed toilets at the school – from our Duke of Edinburgh students washing cars, making breakfast and cakes; to Mark Liquorish cycling all the way to Skegness. We have raised over £900 so far – around 2 million Tanzanian shillings!!
Since sending the money to the school, they have got enough money to rebuild the toilets and to start the build of a canteen area. The students are helping with the building process!
The feedback from Mr Komba (Headteacher), the students and the local community is very moving and appreciative.
Well done to all involved!
