Project SEARCH Celebration Day
An event was held at The Royal Derby Hospital to celebrate and embrace the launch of Project SEARCH Derby. The celebration consisted of 102 VIP guests from all over the city and wider, we had local business people, Derby City councillors, heads of local schools and departments heads and mentors from within ISS and The NHS Trust.
Gavin Boyle CEO of University Hospital of Derby and Burton said;
“Sometimes in my job, you come across something which absolutely knocks you off your feet. That’s how I felt this week when I went along to the Project Search celebration event at RDH on Thursday afternoon, I learned a startling statistic that afternoon – only about 3.5% of school leavers with learning difficulties and autism find their way into full-time employment. That can’t be acceptable. I’m delighted that together with our partners we’re hoping to do something positive to address this”.
The positivity that the students heard from all who spoke on the day was truly inspirational to them all and they felt proud and privileged to be part of the whole experience.
To wrap it up the whole day was inclusive, informative and educational for all.
