Chair of Governors’ Message

Welcome from the Chair of Governors,

I can’t say how pleased I am that we are able to welcome the students back to St Martins this year!

It has been a year of many difficulties as you are well aware and I’m sure you’re also aware of how hard Debbie and her team have worked to try and offer support and education to you and your children during this unique time.

There have however still been some achievements with students being offered full time employment as a result of DFN Project SEARCH and the school also winning the E4E ‘School of the Year’ award. This is massive recognition of what goes on at St Martins and Horizons and a credit to the students and staff who create an environment that is recognised across the city.

Though there have been many changes to keep the students and staff as safe as possible, I have already noticed the positive feeling within school and how everyone is pleased to be back.

Though there will clearly be challenges ahead, we, the Academy Council (was Governing Body, but a change of name now we are an Academy) will do all that we can to support St Martins to stay open safely, to ensure all the students get the opportunity to experience the amazing education provided here.

We wish you and your families well, and sincerely hope we can see a way forward to something more normal soon.

Jeff Howe
Chair of St Martins Academy Council
