Following the Rochford Review, the government announced plans to introduce the engagement model – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-engagement-model.

This is a new form of assessment for pupils working below the standard of the national curriculum tests and not engaged in subject-specific study and will replace P scales 1 to 4. Covid 19 has delayed the rollout of training meaning that the Engagement Model will now become statutory at the beginning of the 2021/22 academic year (20/21 will be a transition year supporting schools to complete training and become more confident in their use of the 5 areas – initiation, persistence, exploration, anticipation and realisation).

St Martins are coordinating training locally for Derby and Derbyshire and  are working with our regional and national leads to support the rollout of training which will be virtual until at least early spring.

EMSYH Regional leads – Emily Walker (Learn TSA) & Ellen Croft (Ashfield School Leicester)

National Lead – Ali Ley (Castle Hill School)
