Community Academy Councillor Recruitment

St Martins is looking to recruit a Community Councillor to join our Academy Council. The role of a Community Councillor is important in the life and development of our school. Community representation is a vital aspect of our governance, and you would join an experienced and progressive Academy Council to support the strategic direction of the school. It can be a challenging role but rewarding to know that you have really contributed to the education of our students and the school as a whole. Your commitment would be to attend approximately four meetings each year, plus any training sessions. Outside of this, you will be a welcome figure at school events. We very much appreciate the time given by Councillors.

To find out more about the role we would advise you to visit the ‘Governance’ section of our Trust website via this link or simply type in ‘Shaw Education Trust’ into your browser, visit the website and click on the ‘Governance’ tab. At the foot of the website page there is further information and also links to more detailed reading.

Initially all we request is a communication of your interest in the role by emailing Victoria Theobald at victoria.theobald@stmartins.set.org by 22nd July 2026.

On receipt of this email, we will send you relevant forms to complete with details of how to apply and the deadline. If we have more applications than vacancies, it is usual to conduct an ‘election’. This will be discussed with applicants before commencing.
